KEW Foundries has over 125 years experience in the foundry and engineering industry, specialising in a wide range of small to large castings in Grey and SG iron.
Additionally, KEW Foundries is the only supplier of cast headgear sheave wheels in Africa and can machine head gear sheave wheel assemblies up to 7.1 metre outside diameter.
KEW Foundries has its own extensive foundry and engineering capabilities and offers an on-site laboratory, testing facilities, machine shop, design and draughting facilities, so that work can be completed efficiently and effectively.
Occupying 60 000m² of facilities on a 13 hectare (32 acre) property within the city itself, KEW Foundries’ factory site is strategically based on the national grid creating fast and efficient access to Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban, which ensures fast movement of exports. Operating its own fleet of vehicles also ensures timeous local deliveries. Besides good delivery times, KEW Foundries is well-known for its quality.

The foundry has a modern laboratory equipped with an ARL 3460 Ret B optical emission spectrometer, metallographic section and a sand testing section.
There are two furan sand foundries on-site that are capable of producing castings from 1 kg to 7 500kg, from single to complex shapes. The two foundries are supplied with metal from one of 6 000kg induction furnaces and either of the two 3 000kg furnaces feeding off a common power pack.
As well as storing and maintaining customer patterns, KEW Foundries has its own extensive pattern library. In addition, KEW Foundries works closely with each client to design and modify castings and or pattern equipment to improve quality and reduce costs.
A full range of non-destructive testing can be performed on-site inclusive of magnetic particle, die-penetrant and ultrasonic testing. Physical testing is at present performed by an independent laboratory.
Each section of the engineering division including the design, material controls and production, is actively supported by the Quality Assurance Department.
