Akasel, a Danish company dedicated to developing, manufacturing and distributing preparation methods and consumables for metallography has introduced two new reinforced cut-off wheels, Aka-Cut 650 HV and Aka-Cut 350 HV, that are well suited for cutting of surface hardened workpieces. These reinforced cut-off wheels for metallographic sectioning guarantee great results by minimising thermal damage and mechanical deformation. Together with Aka-Cut 500 HV they comprise the company’s product line of reinforced cut-off wheels.

A special fibre web on both sides ensures maximum durability and stiffness. The reinforcement makes the wheel better to withstand the internal stress and tension when cutting hardened materials. The increased stiffness also ensures that the cuts are straighter and leave no unevenness at the entry point, resulting in less grinding to make the sample surface plane afterwards.

Aka-Cut 650 HV is recommended for all types of harder steels and is especially suited for hardened samples with a hardness of about 500-700 HV. Aka-Cut 500 HV is ideal for cutting all types of medium hard steel, and is especially suited for surface hardened samples with a hardness of about 250-500 HV. Aka-Cut 350 HV can be used for cutting all types of softer steel, and is especially suited for ferrous materials with a hardness of about 200-350 HV.

Aka-Cut abrasive cut-off wheels have been carefully developed to meet these exacting standards, providing efficient cutting solutions across a variety of materials and hardness levels. Each wheel is engineered to deliver fast, clean cuts with minimal deformation, ensuring the integrity of your samples and reducing the need for excessive grinding and polishing.

The Akasel programme of consumables for metallographic preparation includes cut-off wheels, diamond grinding discs like Aka-Piatto and Aka-Allegran that replace hundreds of pieces of grinding paper, agglomerate-free and permanently stable diamond suspensions. Additionally the company provides lubricants and a magnetic adapter (Aka-Rhaco) for magnetic preparation systems.
