Director of Chem Systems and Business Unit Manager for the Foundry and Timber Board division, Deon Smit explains how the shift will bring value to the industry to keep this unique niche on the cutting edge of global developments.

Leaner business
“As Applied Casting Solutions, continuous improvement was integral to our business. This hasn’t changed,” assures Smit.

“Our acquisition of Resinkem and subsequent consolidation under the Chem Systems banner bring key operational efficiencies, improved access to resources, and tightened controls. This strategic, yet natural progression is gearing us to deliver improved service, and support to our customers. We’ll be working alongside our customers to address profitability and sustainability in the long term.”

Deeper partnership with ASK Chemicals
The business has also deepened their key partnership with German-based ASK Chemicals, whose acquisition of Hexion’s European-based foundry business promises some attractive opportunities for the local market.

“Our business success is linked closely to that of our customers, therefore it’s critical that we expand and develop offerings where our customers will realise the most benefits,” reiterates Smit.

“The partnership with ASK allows us to explore custom solutions for our local market.”

“These changes are supported by more than 40 years of experience and an impeccable track record. These roots are important to us and ensure that we stay in touch with what it is that makes the local foundry industry such a unique niche,” concludes Smit.
