Introducing Akasel Aka-Resin PP

Premium consumables for metallographic testing.

Akasel A/S has introduced a new, dust-free, polypropylene hot mounting resin, Aka-Resin PP. Aka-Resin PP is a resin in pellet form, specifically designed for use in metallurgical and materials laboratories. Its uniform pellets prevent breakdown during handling and filling, ensuring a dust-free experience that promotes a cleaner and safer work environment. As a universal hot mounting resin, that provides consistent performance across various applications, making it a reliable choice for laboratory professionals.

Aka-Resin PP – smarter, more efficient mounting for routine embedding
Aka-Resin PP is a dust-free, polypropylene hot mounting resin developed for safe, efficient and routine sample preparation in metallographic laboratories. This resin supports an efficient and structured workflow, being available in four distinct colours: black, green, orange and red. This allows for easy identification of working groups, shifts, or sample categorisation. Its low environmental impact and safe handling properties make it an excellent alternative to traditional resins, aligning with modern sustainability and workplace safety standards. The resin is cost efficient and characterised by its universality, making it the optimal choice for routine mounting.

Reliable performance for routine applications
Aka-Resin PP is a mineral-filled thermoplastic resin developed for dependable and consistent hot mounting of a wide range of sample types. Its dust-free pellet form ensures clean and safe handling, reducing airborne particles and maintaining a tidy laboratory environment.

When heated, Aka-Resin PP flows efficiently and ensures complete infiltration of the sample, resulting in void-free mounts with good edge retention and surface planeness. These characteristics are essential for reliable microscopic inspection and reproducibility across both routine and advanced metallographic applications.

The resin is ideal for mounting soft to medium-hard materials. It can also be used as a cost-effective backfiller in combination with high-performance resins like Aka-Resin Epoxy or Aka-Resin Melamine, particularly when edge retention at the sample interface is critical.

Akasel A/S is a Danish company that specialises in developing, producing and distributing top-quality consumables and fast preparation methods for metallography.

The Akasel programme of consumables for metallographic preparation includes cut-off wheels, diamond grinding discs like Aka-Piatto and Aka-Allegran that replace hundreds of pieces of grinding paper, agglomerate-free and permanently stable diamond suspensions. Additionally, the company provides lubricants and a magnetic adapter (Aka-Rhaco) for magnetic preparation systems.
