SciAps integrated into Malvern Panalytical, a subsidiary of Spectris

SciAps, a supplier of handheld analytical instruments used to identify critical elements, minerals and compounds in major industries around the world, has been integrated into Malvern Panalytical, a subsidiary of Spectris plc after the recent acquisition. Spectris paid $260 million for SciAps comprising an up-front consideration of $200 million plus a deferred element of up to $60 million payable on the delivery of agreed financial metrics.

Established in 2012, SciAps designs and manufactures handheld analytical instruments used to identify critical compounds, minerals, and elements. The Company’s current portfolio of analysers is underpinned by two proprietary technology platforms capable of measuring every stable element on the periodic table: XRF: X-Ray Fluorescence and LIBS: Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy.

Spectris is a London-based publicly traded company that supplies measuring instruments for research and industrial applications in industries such as pharmaceuticals, mining, and academic research. Spectris has approximately 7 500 employees throughout its global operations.

Malvern Panalytical manufactures and supplies material characterisation solutions for the challenges associated with maximising productivity, developing improved products and getting them to market faster through chemical, physical and structural analysis of materials.

Comprising Malvern Instruments and PANalytical (including ASD and Claisse), Malvern Panalytical has headquarters in the Netherlands and the UK, with more than 2 000 employees worldwide. The equipment includes a range of laboratory and benchtop equipment.
