The WFO (World Foundry Organisation) has announced that Professor Rafał Dańko has been elected President of the WFO for the 2026–2027 term.
Professor Dańko is a highly respected leader in the global foundry sector. He currently serves as President of the Stowarzyszenie Techniczne Odlewników Polskich (STOP) – Polish Foundrymen’s Association, Vice-Rector of AGH University of Krakow, and formerly as Dean of the Faculty of Foundry Engineering at AGH. With over 350 scientific publications and 10 patents, his work consistently connects advanced research with industrial practice, particularly in the fields of foundry technologies, additive manufacturing, recycling of moulding sands, and sustainable, low-emission production.

As WFO President, Professor Dańko’s vision focuses on strengthening international cooperation, supporting technological excellence and digital transformation, promoting sustainable and responsible foundry production, reinforcing strong links between industry and science, and actively engaging young professionals as the future of the global foundry community.
His term begins at a truly historic moment, as 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the WFO, to be celebrated during the 76th World Foundry Congress in Turkey. This milestone offers an opportunity not only to reflect on a century of achievements, but also to define ambitious directions for the future development of the global foundry industry.
